Details

Thanks for making contact and congratulations!

Many people welcome the opportunity to visit celebrants and receive information, before they make a decision on the celebrant of their choice. I'm happy to meet with you, chat about your ideas and thoughts, offer advice if you need it and give you any information I may have. There is no charge for this and there is no obligation to book a marriage with me.

If you'd prefer, you can book a marriage with me and I can work with you via the electronic media.

Notice of Intended Marriage (NIM)

To be married in Australia, couples will need to complete and lodge a Notice of Intended Marriage (NIM) Form with the celebrant of their choice. This completed form must be received by the celebrant at least one month and one day before your wedding and no more than 18 months before the date or your wedding.

The form can be completed by just one of you to begin the process and needs to be signed on the back of page 4 of the form in the presence of an appropriate authority eg policeman, lawyer, Justice of the Peace who will also sign it. Alternatively, I can witness your Notice of Intended Marriage Form.
I can also receive your signed and witnessed NIM by post or fax. If I receive your NIM by fax, you will also need to provide me with the original document before your wedding day. The date I receive the fax or original document is the date of lodgement.

In special circumstances you can apply to have a shortening of time of the one month and one day period. I can help you with this.

You can download the Notice of Intended Marriage Form from this site as a PDF, (it is 4 pages long) or I can give it to you when we meet.

Other Documents

Sometime before your ceremony, it will be necessary for me to sight your birth certificates (or extracts) and in some cases passports, Citizenship documents or proof of how any previous marriage was terminated eg Decree Absolute, Death Certificate.

I have and know of numerous resources to assist you with your wedding day, from choosing a venue, to organising the procedure. I just love being a civil celebrant. I have a breadth and depth of professional experience working with people. In general, I perform only one wedding ceremony a day, preferring to have nothing more important to do than solemnise your marriage on your day.

Fees

From 2006 my fees will be $450 for a marriage ceremony in or around Canberra includes everything – help with designing and compiling your personal ceremony, rehearsals and as many meetings, phone calls or email conversations with you as you'd like. Included in this amount is a non refundable lodgement fee of $200 for your Notice of Intended Marriage.

So, if you like, give me a call or an email so we can set up a time to get together and talk over everything else you may need to know.
